Leicester: A total of £14,000 was raised at the De Montfort Hall when Bollywood singer Bankim Pathak visiting from India sang at the request of Lord Mayor of Leicester Councillor Manjula Sood.

Mr Pathak accepted Mrs Sood's invitation last December when he visited her in the Lord Mayor's tea rooms at the town hall.

All the money raised will go towards staging the Special Olympics in Leicester in the last week of July.
