A man accused of raping and attempting to murder a prostitute has appeared at Leicester Crown Court.

Arturas Ardavicius spoke only to acknowledge his name, through a Lithuanian interpreter, at a preliminary hearing.

Ardavicius (26) is charged with attempted murder and rape of the woman in the early hours of Saturday, July 7.

The hearing was adjourned for a plea and case management hearing, at the same court, on September 29.
