Asfordby Amateurs Aces scored an excellent 5-1 victory at Barrow Belles, one of the top teams in the Leicester City & County Girls League Under-14 Division.

Aces striker Rachel Burton took the game to the Belles from the outset with a determined break into the area.

Barrow responded with a confident attacking move and shot which was well gathered by Aces keeper Heidi Millin.

In the fifth minute Jade Pereira was denied by a fine diving save from the Belles keeper.

A minute later, Paige Gunn raced in from the right past two defenders but her shot was well saved.

Aces scored first with a fine goal from Pereira in the eighth minute after a defence-splitting through ball from Charlotte Broad.

Four minutes later an alert Burton intercepted a short goal kick and fired the ball inside the left post.

The Aces midfield of Harcourt, Olivia Taylor, Broad and Gunn took the game to the opposition with some wonderful passing.

It was great to see Alix Harcourt, back in an Aces shirt, and again showing her excellent ball control.

The Aces defence of Nailah Master, Sophie Pickering, Sophie Ellerton, Sarah Dannaher and Lucy Brewer, marshalled brilliantly by Master, tackled strongly.

In the 26th minute, Gunn scored a key goal to put the Aces 3-0 ahead.

Pereira made it 4-0 with a brilliant quick turn on the edge of the area and a low, accurate shot inside the left post.

In the second half, the Aces continued the onslaught with Broad making a superb solo run through the Barrow defence followed by a powerful shot that rebounded off the right post.

Six minutes after the break, Pereira made a dazzling run from the halfway line past several defenders and crossed to Gunn, whose close-range shot flew wide of the target.

Ellerton made it 5-0 following a goalmouth scramble.

The Belles must be given great credit for fighting for every ball and never loosing heart and with 10 minutes remaining they scored a well-deserved goal.

Burton was player of the match for the Aces.
