African rangers help out at country park
A group of African park rangers exchanged the savannah and forests of Uganda for the wilds of Watermead Country Park as part of a twinning project.
The visitors came from the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda to gather information on how the country park, near Thurmaston, manages its wetlands and reedbeds, how it keeps records of species and how wetland birds are encouraged to stay and breed.

The visit was co-ordinated by Ugandan wildlife ranger Charles Etoru, who is studying in Leicester, and Watermead senior ranger Dale Osborne.
Charles said: "It has been a privilege for our rangers to be in Leicester and the twinning project aims to help our colleagues far and wide to learn more about conservation."
