Nick Moss starred in the first of four Sensas Pairs matches, on the Grand Union Canal, at Loughborough.

The Leicester Sensas angler made the most of a good draw at the swingbridge to catch skimmers and bream for a winning individual total of 15lb 12oz.

Second was Derby's Andy Beasley, who landed roach and perch for 9-07.

John Shellard, of Leicester Sensas, had a little luck in taking a bream and a large chub of around 4-00 to finish third with 7-10.

Quorn's Dave Petch thought he had blown his chances after losing a big perch at the net. However, about an hour later, he caught what he thought was the same fish to weigh in with a total of 7-03.

The pairs event was a close affair with Aaron Wells and partner Shellards sharing first place with Petch and Sid Baldock.

Brad Titmus and Steve Hemmingrey were third.

The event attracted 74 anglers from all over the country. The next round will be on January 20.

Rivendell AC's Steve Wheildon had six carp for 28-00 to take second place.

Paul Garner (Ringer Baits) took 62-12 of carp and 2-00 of silvers to record 64-12 and win the Thursday Nisa Open.
