Angling: Nigel Miller wins Wreake AC's canal contest
Nigel Miller edged to victory in Wreake AC's contest on the Grand Union Canal at Newton Harcourt.
He caught 4lb 2oz to pip Martin Badrick, 4-2.
Dave Flower was third on 3-12 ahead of Pete Wade, 3-8, with Bobby Grycuk and Rob Jones tied for fifth on 3-4.
Mick Moore set the pace in Ratby AC's contest at Mill on the Soar. He caught 27-8 from peg 10 fishing on a small feeder with pellet as bait.
Ian Stripp was runner-up on 21-4 and Ade Hull third on 21-2.
Terry Phillips (Attleborough Sports) used sweetcorn as bait for a winning weight of 44-2 from peg B11 on lake two in a midweek open at Dynamite Baits Makins Fishery, Wolvey.
He beat Lee Westwood (Lichfield), 43-8, and Alan Neill (Tackle Shack), 33-10.
Matt Hall (All Seasons Angling) won the following day's contest on lizard pool with a catch of 63-8 from peg 19, beating Phil Jarram (Dynamite Matchmans Supplies), 52-12, and Kev Walters (Gedling Tackle), 33-2.
Plenty of good pike have been caught on the sailing lake at Celtic Lakes Fishery, Frisby, with the best scaling 18-6.
Trevor McKenzie travelled to the venue from Spalding, Lincolnshire, and was rewarded with a 9-14 fish.
Plenty of pike to 15lb have been caught on the boys' pit with lure anglers doing best.
Syston's Andy Pollard caught four pike to 14lb and the top fish of the week scaled 15lb.
