For the second year running, people from all walks of life gathered at the Animals' War Memorial in London, for an all-inclusive service on Remembrance Sunday.

Two minutes' silence was observed and flowers and posies were laid for all the fallen, both human and animal.

Once again, I was honoured to be asked if my recently written Remembrance hymn and prayer might be used for this special occasion.

Also, having been inspired by last year's service, a number of Quakers in Eastbourne were granted special permission to lay a wreath of purple poppies at the town's Remembrance Service, remembering the role of animals in war.

Animals are still being caught up in wars and while the human casualties of war are so rightly remembered, we should never forget the millions of animals which suffered alongside them on the battlefields.
