Application to convert Wigston Pub into flats is under consideration
The planning application to convert the Marquis of Queensbury on Blaby Road into nineteen self-contained flats is being considered by Oadby & Wigston Borough Council at a Development Control Committee Meeting on 13 September 2012.
The neglected building, which is situated on the main commercial street in South Wigston, is within a conservation area and on the Council's list of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. The building was previously used as a public house with some residential accommodation above.
Local firm of architects, The Drawing Room has drawn up plans on behalf of developer Property Force (UK) Ltd, to convert the property into 15 two bedroom and 4 one bedroom flats. Two flats will be nominated as affordable housing.
No car parking has been provided within the development given the town centre location, frequent bus services, the proximity of the train station and existing car parking restrictions in the vicinity of the site..
