Archery: Leicestershire aces win regional crowns
Tom Cram and Tim Oliver made it a Leicestershire men's double in the East Midlands Championships at Leicester Forest East.
Cram led from the early stages in the recurve contest and never looked like relinquishing his advantage, while Jim Young recovered well from a poor start to take third place.
Oliver continues to dominate the compound tournaments in the region and was a comfortable winner.
In the women's recurve, Kim Copson of Birstall was runner-up on her home ground to Helen Faulkner, of Sleaford.
Amy Curnock, of Melton, and Liam Hannon, of Kirby, were the junior recurve champions, eligibility being confined to those shooting the under-18 rounds. Curnock seems to improve with every shoot and produced an excellent score.
Fin Newman impressed again in the junior longbow and looks a good prospect.
Lizzy Warner, of Kirby, and Bowmen of Glen's Lucy Colledge were the highest scorers among the recurve girls while David Phillips and James Passingham were the second highest scorers in the boys' recurve and compound competitions respectively.
Warner, Phillips and Hannon retained the junior recurve team trophy for Kirby Muxloe with a championship record score.
