Asbo served on gang of Barwell youths
One of the youths accused of harassing Fiona Pilkington and her children has been given an interim Asbo for anti-social behaviour.
Alex Simmons (16), from Bardon Road, Barwell, was one of four youths ordered by magistrates not to meet up, use threatening behaviour, insulting or abusive language or behaviour likely to cause alarm or distress. They are also banned from associating with three or more people using that sort of language or behaviour.
Orders were issued against Simmons, Anthony Warner Thorne (17), of Bardon Road, Josh Warner Thorne (16), of the same address, and Billy Joe Kenney, 20, of Elwell Avenue, Barwell.
Kenney was also banned from entering Bardon Road.
If they break the orders, imposed under civil proceedings, they could face criminal action and a possible jail sentence.
Police said the granting of the orders by Hinckley magistrates this week was a "fantastic" result for people in Bardon Road.
In September, Simmons and his brothers Ross, 20, and Mitchel were named by national newspapers as three members of the gang seen outside the house of Fiona Pilkington and Frankie Hardwick the night they died in 2007.
It was stressed the Asbos were not connected with the Pilkington case, but related to complaints of anti-social behaviour between September 1 and October 24 this year.
Inspector Rich Ward, commander of Hinckley police, said: "The community has spoken to us and we have responded.
"This weekend, we will be putting extra patrols into Ratby because last weekend the community there told us there was anti-social behaviour. I want us to be responsive to the needs of the community."
He said extra patrols would be operating around Hinckley and Bosworth until November 9, to deal with any anti-social behaviour associated with Bonfire Night.
The interim orders will last until January 25, when the four will be due to go back to court.
A Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council spokesman said: "The council believes that four youths have acted in an anti-social manner and that an interim order is fair to protect people living in the area from further acts of anti-social behaviour."
Barwell parish councillor Hazel Smith said: "Bardon Road has become quite quiet recently, but there was a group of youths gathering on the corner of Elwell Avenue on Wednesday night.
"The filthy, abusive talk they were using – people don't want that sort of thing."
