Athletics: Ashley Sabin speeds to sixth Braunstone parkrun win
Leicester Coritanian Ashley Sabin claimed his sixth victory from as many appearances in the latest Braunstone parkrun.
Sabin crossed the line to win the 5k race in 15min 53sec and now heads the leaderboard for most successes in the event.
It was certainly a convincing performance by Sabin as he finished almost a minute ahead of Ian Mansell, of Centurion RC.
Mansell was second in 17.20 while Leicester Tri-Club's Duncan Toon clocked a personal best of 17.34 to finish third.
And it was a good day for the Toon family because his wife, Joanna, crossed the line in 19.01 to take the women's race.
Charnwood's Clare McKittrick, a winner on her first two parkrun appearances in October, completed her fifth race in 20.24 to take second place and Jolanta Gibes, was third in 20.52.
In the under-15s race, Leicester Coritanian Alfie Thompson was first over the line with a time of 18.47.
Holly Bleasdale has smashed her own British pole vault record with a clearance of 4.87metres in Lyon.
That puts her top of the world rankings in 2012 and second on the world indoor all-time list.
