Charnwood's James Douglas saw off one of the largest-ever turnouts to take victory at the latest Braunstone parkrun.

More than 200 runners took to the start-line for the 116th run of the series, with Douglas completing the 5k race in 16min 09sec for his second win in the men's event.

Debutant Matthew Poynton, of Wreake Runners, took second place in a time of 16.29, with Hinckley's Ian Smith, a previous winner at the Reading parkrun, third in a personal-best time of 16.31.

Liz Cocks, making her first appearance in the women's race for more than a year, chalked up her third win from five.
