There was success for Leicestershire runners in the opening race of this season's North Midlands Cross-Country league.

Juliet Doyle, of Charnwood, romped home in the senior women's event at Marketon Park in Derby, completing the 6k distance in 23min 02sec, almost two minutes faster than her nearest rival.

Biathle world champion Nicola Roder, who runs for Leicester Triathlon, finished third in 25.42.

Roder will be looking to emulate last season's treble of North Midlands and Derby Runner cross-country leagues, as well as the County cross-country title.
