Athletics: Emma Achurch puts unbeaten record on the line

Leicester Walking Club's Emma Achurch defends a season-long unbeaten record in the under-13s 2k event at an inter-area match at Doncaster today.

Achurch competes for the Midlands against the North and the South, and it will be her last outing in the age-group. She is also National Grand Prix champion.

Mark Wall competes in the senior men's 10k while Jasmine Nicholls is in the under-15 3k race.

A trio of West End Runners competed in the Berlin marathon. Alex Webster ran 2hr 50min 19sec to finish 103rd in the men's over-40s category.

Sarah Hargreaves was 22nd in the women's over-55 section in a time of 3.56.45 and Christine Middleton was 45th in women's over-60 in 4.46.31.

Leicester Junior Triathlon Club made its mark in the National Inter-Regional Championships at Parc Bryn Bach in Wales.

They provided five of the 14 young athletes selected to form the East Midlands squad.

The top 11-16 year-old triathletes from 11 regions competed in the three disciplines of a lake swim, an undulating cycle road course and a fast, flat run.

In the under-13 boys, George Bell finished 14th, while Rebecca Orton finished 18th in the girls' race.

In the under-15 girls, Rachel Borrows finished 14th. Catherine Robertson was 20th in the under-17 girls race.
