The accident happened on the A47 Uppingham Road, near to its junction with Dalby Avenue, in Bushby, at about 3.15am.
In our report on the crash earlier today, we said there were unconfirmed reports Mr Evans was a father of two.
Police confirmed this evening he is a father of one.
The Lotus had been travelling towards Houghton on the Hill. Mr Evans was pronounced dead at the scene.
A male passenger was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment, but has since been discharged.
The road was closed in both directions through the villages of Thurnby and Bushby to allow officers to carry out investigations into the incident.
It has since been reopened.
Detective Constable David Sharpe, who is investigating the collision, said: "We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle beforehand to contact us with any information they have."
Anyone with any information should call Det Con Sharpe on 0116 222 2222.
