Ban on hunting is here to stay
I cannot find the words to express my pleasure upon reading your article regarding the "Boxing Day Hunt" (Mercury, December 28).
Fox hunting is banned so why were they even contemplating it anyway?
They should be arrested, as should the sad people who support and watch it.
In my opinion, they are all sick individuals.
They are (the huntsmen and supporters) trying to get the ban repealed. If this is sanctioned, then the people who make the decision need stringing up.

“I agree with Oscar Wilde on this one, hunting is "the unspeakable in pursuit of the uneatable"; but I am sick and tired of the so-called moral majority telling the rest of us that anyone who disagrees with them "needs stringing-up". Let the politicians make the decision, after all it was a manifesto commitment by the Conservatives to have a free vote and they did get more votes than each of the other parties.”

“A Blackshaw is a sick individual for wanting politicians to be executed if they make decisions he/she disagrees with.”

“Apaert from being a ridiculous, reactionary letter, it doesn't make sense. I presume that the first line should read "displeasure" and not "pleaseure".
Does the writer not realise that hunts no longer chase foxes with hounds, but follow trails laid earlier?
The ban is here to stay and I could not care less either way. I have given my reasons previously and do not intend to go over them again today, but the likes of A Blackshaw would make more sense and gather more support if they moderated their language.”

“Have to agree David (though profoundly against hunting with dogs). There are enough real moral issues to debate rationally over this issue without silly comments like this”

“Well, we're all entitled to our own opinion but I wouldn't stoop so low as to say all the antis need "stringing up". Now that would be barbaric!!
So often the antis rant, get all heated up and in the end lose the argument.”
