Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders claimed a dramatic 94-93 victory over Plymouth Raiders thanks to a Tony Windless basket nine seconds from time.

It was a pulsating end to a game in which Riders trailed for long periods, before appearing to seal victory in the final minutes.

But, when LaTaryl Williams had the ball taken from him with 30 seconds to go, Riders fouled to stop the clock.

It sent Drew Lasker to the free-throw line with his side already 93-92 in front and only 23 seconds remaining.

But the American missed both attempts and Riders reclaimed possession.

Windless banked in a jump shot to put Riders ahead and, when Anthony Martin missed a three-point attempt with three seconds left, Barry Lamble dived on the loose ball to ensure time expired without further score.

Riders had been second best for most of the first half with Raiders' speedy attack causing them all sorts of problems. When Riders did manage to slow down Plymouth, they did not help themselves by allowing the visitors numerous offensive rebounds.

Riders, though, did enough at the other end of the court to ensure they were only 53-46 behind at the break.

Riders were much improved in the second half but could not really get their noses in front.

An excellent pass from Bradd Wierzbicki found Shaun Durant for a three-point play and then Windless connected with a trademark fall-away shot to move Riders 86-81 in front at the mid-point of the final period.

At that stage there looked to be only one winner and, when Wierzbicki swished home a three-pointer to make it 92-85 with less than two minutes left, Riders looked comfortable.

Riders: Wierzbicki 25, Johnson 20, I Westbrooks 10, A Westbrooks 9, Williams 9, Lamble 7, Windless 6, Durant 6, James 2.

Raiders: Martin 22, Horton 17, Lasker 15, Valencia 14, Hilleary 11, Gall 7, Rowe 7, Marriot.
