Westcotes: Anuradha Dooney, from The Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, held a talk at the Jalaram Community Centre, off Narborough Road, in which she discussed the impact of the Bhagavad Gita on modern life.

Then Shaunaka Rishi Das, director of the Oxford Centre, told the 50 attendees that the Oxford Centre will be collaborating with the BBC improve its Hinduism web pages.

He added that the Oxford Centre has helped the Dow Jones create a Hindu-compliant index to invest in the stock market. The evening was capped with two anonymous donations of £500 and £150.
