So, My Style writer Gemma Peplow and photographer Alex Hannam accepted his challenge and put him to the test.
After spending a couple of hours on the high street looking for Leicester's best dressed, the Birch had this to say about the city's sartorial tastes.
"When we decided to do this My Style spread in our editorial meeting, I knew we wouldn't have a problem here, as Leicester is so well dressed.
"We've got the trendiest people in the Midlands. We could have filled a whole magazine. It's one of the best assignments I've ever had.
"In fact, I'm thinking of taking over the column in the mag and Gemma can cover the football."
