Bollywood bombshell Kareena Kapoor plays a strong-minded woman in Kambakkht Ishq in which she is pitted opposite philanderer Akshay Kumar, writes Badri Ahmed.

Kumar is a daredevil stuntman who likes to live life in the fast lane with women who are even racier.

His hedonistic lifestyle is at odds with Kareena's and the two seemed destined to clash.

Director Sabir Khan exploits the electric tension between the two to create an action-romance that is really buzzing.

The pair are joined by Aftab Shivdasani and Amrita Arora who also play sweethearts in the movie.

Add to this a crop of Hollywood stars, like Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards, and you have the makings of an out-of-the-ordinary movie. The ex-Bond girl's kissing scene with Akshay has already sparked interest.

This is the first Bollywood film to be shot at Universal studios in LA.

Akshay is said to have refused a body double and performed his own stunts in the movie.

The film is set to release on 2,000 screens – the biggest for any Bollywood film in recent times,

The other big July release, which comes at the end of the month, is Love Aaj Kal with Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.

Showing the nature of love in different generations, it contrast the nature of relationships down the years, while showing that things are not so different after all.

Another interesting film out in July is Luck with Sanjay Dutt and Mithun Chakraborty. Sanjay Dutt is also reunited with Imran Khan after they teamed up for Kidnap.

The highlight next month is Kaminay, with Shahid Kapoor in a double role, starring opposite Priyanka Chopra.
