October has to go on record as the month that has seen the biggest glut of film stars appear on the big screen, says Badri Ahmed.

The Diwali weekend has seen extended film releases including Blue, reputedly the most expensive film in Bollywood history.

A number of stars had multiple releases in the month, which meant in some instances their films were competing against one another for viewers.

The end of the month sees the release of London Dreams, with Ghajini heroine Asin starring with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan.

Ajay plays a performer who works hard to build up a band from scratch in London, then invites his old friend Salman to join him.

The latter becomes a success and also hits it off with Ajay's amour, played by Asin, sparking a jealousy and rivalry that threatens to ruin the band.

During a European tour, Ajay lures Salman into a hedonistic lifestyle until they return for a concert at Wembley Stadium – the final showdown for the band.

There is friendship, love and rivalry in this tale of a musical journey from India to Europe.

One film that might escape notice amid the kerfuffle of big releases is Allah Ke Baday starring Sharman Joshi, Naseeruddin Shah, Anjana Sukhani, Atul Kulkarni, Zakir Hussain and Anupam Kher.

A story about the exploitation of children for evil and terrorist activity, the film sees Sharman, who is normally associated with comedy, in a serious role for a change.

Amitabh Bachchan also pops out of a lamp to round off the magical month of Bollywood film releases, with the movie Aladin.

It also stars Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Juhi Chawla and Jacqueline Fernandez.

The film is a modern day reworking of the fable.
