Almost all of the film is shot in Leicester – a location chosen because Sunny's wife is from Oakham and the couple's two children were born in the city.

"It is wonderful to be back in Leicester," said the 55-year-old, who lives in New Delhi. The warm welcome my family has received has been wonderful.

"It has been wonderful shooting at the university and we look forward to shooting in other parts of the city and region."

So far, locations have included the university's library, botanical gardens and halls of residence in Oadby.

Producers said they hoped to complete filming by the end of November.

Marketing manager Beena Ahuja said: "Apart from the fact that Sunny's wife is from the area, it was chosen because it is perfect for our film.

"There are lots of good locations and the countryside is lovely.

"The people in Leicester have been very friendly and the university has been very helpful.

"Everywhere we have been, there have been lots of fans taking pictures. It has been really wonderful."

She said a number of other locations around the city would be used.

History of art and film students at the university will be helping out on set as the filming continues.

Ather Mirza, spokesman for the university, said: "We are delighted to showcase the University of Leicester to the global audiences that Bollywood films attract.

"It is an inspiration for our students to work with stars of the calibre of Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby.

"As a film industry dynasty, they are tremendously well respected and well known and their presence on campus will have a huge impact."

The movie is expected to hit cinema screens in India next summer.
