Bowstring Bridge demolition work is over
Scaffolding erected for the demolition of the Bowstring Bridge has been removed.
The controversial decision by Leicester City Council to remove the bridge to make way for De Montfort University's new swimming pool was met by a number of public protests.
Work to remove the bridge has now finished. It means pedestrians and cars are able to use Western Boulevard - where the bridge stood.
A city council spokesman said: "Work at the Bowstring Bridge site is now complete, and Western Boulevard has reopened to traffic as normal."

“C has a very good point, Daniel. Karen specifically says that 'It was reported on the news this morning'. Which news? Is there a credible source that she - or indeed anyone who saw the same story - can link to? I'm honestly interested in seeing that report.”
