Boxing: I'll be the Leicester's next champion, vows Scott King
Blaby basher Scott King is hoping to inspire Leicester's thirty-somethings.
King battles for a heavyweight belt on promoter Scott Lansdowne's next EBF-sanctioned show at Liquid Envy on Saturday, March 3, and the 35-year-old said: "I'm going to win it for the thirty-somethings
"I'm showing you can still get in good shape and do sport when you pass 30. If I can do it, anyone can.
"I've got myself back down the gym, and next month I'm going to be Leicester's next champion."
Lester Walsh also boxes for a title on the show – he meets Kieran Cumberbatch for the EBF Midlands Area welterweight belt – and King goes toe to toe with Craig Hylton, from Birmingham, for the EBF Novice Midlands Area title.
"I know he's a slugger who likes to get stuck in," said King, "and I'm going to have to show that I can box as well as punch.
"I'm evolving as a boxer and my punching power is going through the roof."
King, who thanked backers Rich Mason and Wayne Smith from Elite Nutrition, says listening to Blaby chart-toppers Kasabian will put him in the mood for another demolition job after securing his title shot with back-to-back whirlwind knock-outs.
"I always listen to 'Fire' in the changing room," he said. "It gets me fired up to fight."
Robbie Everitt is in action on a bill that also features the ring returns of Shaun Warner and Ashley Pears, from Market Harborough.
