Leicester City defender Liam Moore has joined Brentford on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old made 14 appearances for City this season but has not played since the 1-0 win against Burnley in December.

City manager Nigel Pearson said he wanted the England Under-21 international to get some games under his belt.

"I think he needs some games," said Pearson. "We have got a fully-fit squad at the moment, so I think it will be good for him."

The deal comes as central defenders Zak Whitbread and Sean St Ledger both return from long-term injuries.

The pair are both back in full training, and St Ledger was named on the bench in Tuesday's defeat against Charlton.

Moore follows in the footsteps of fellow City player Jeff Schlupp, who scored six goals in 10 appearances for the Bees while on loan in 2011.

Brentford sporting director Mark Warburton said: "Liam is a player I have tracked and monitored for the last two to three years.

"He has come through the same youth system that produced Jeff Schlupp, who I am sure Brentford fans will remember.

"Liam has had an excellent academy education and has developed into a fine young defensive player.

"He is comfortable both in central defence and at right-back, and also, crucially, in defensive midfield."

Moore could make his debut at home to Walsall on Saturday.
