One of Britain's best-known broadcasters will be at a university tomorrow to talk about her new BBC Radio 4 series on the history of sport.

Clare Balding, fronts the BBC's live racing coverage.

She has also presented at the last three summer Olympics and last year became the first woman to commentate on a Wimbledon final.

She will be interviewed by De Montfort University's vice-chancellor, Professor Dominic Shellard, about Sport and the British.

The 30-part series was produced with the help of historians from the university's International Centre for Sports History and Culture.

Ms Balding will talk about her broadcasting career and her love of sport before being joined by Lucy Lunt – producer of Sport and the British – and Professor Richard Holt, from the university for a discussion and questions.

Professor Holt, who has been working with the BBC on the series for over three years, said he hoped it would explain in an entertaining yet historically accurate way how sport has changed in step with British society over the past 300 years.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 6pm in the Hugh Aston Building, are free but places must be reserved by calling 0116 257 7452 or e-mailing:
