Police were last night due to speak to a bus driver believed to have been involved in an accident with a schoolgirl on Wednesday morning.

The girl, a pupil at Humphrey Perkins High School, in Barrow-on-Soar, was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary with a suspected broken collarbone following a collision in Sileby Road in the village as she walked to school.

Police said last night that they were preparing to interview a man as part of their investigations.

The driver is known to have worked for one of Leicestershire County Council's bus contractors and was taking students to Rawlins Community College, in nearby Quorn.
