CCTV appeal after robbery at Martin McColl shop in Hinckley Road, Leicester

Police have issued CCTV footage of a robbery at a shop in Hinckley Road, Leicester.

Two men entered the Martin McColl shop near to the junction with Bolton Road, and threatened a staff member inside. The pair then left, taking with them a quantity of cigarettes.

Police are hoping that a renewed appeal for information about the robbery will anyone with information to come forward. The robbery happened at around 6.20pm on Saturday December 1, 2012.

The first suspect is black, in his mid-20s, of slim build, about 5ft 10in tall. He was wearing a shiny black puffer style jacket, dark trousers, black canvas plimsoles with white trim around the sole and black gloves. He was wearing a black hat and a black scarf covering his nose and mouth.

The second suspect is white, in his mid twenties, of medium build and around 5ft 8in. He was wearing a black top with the hood up, dark trousers and a black balaclava.

Detective Constable Luke Brooks said: “We first appealed for information about the incident in December 2012, but we hope that this fresh appeal and CCTV footage will encourage others to come forward.

“We have already spoken to a number of witnesses, carried out forensic enquiries and looked in detail at the CCTV footage. However, there is still someone out there who knows what happened that day and knows who is responsible and we want to talk to them.

“Although some time has passed since the incident happened it isn’t too late to help us. If you know anything about the robbery, anything about those responsible or the stolen cigarettes please call us.”
