Since his first gig in January 2008, Josh has had a remarkable impact on the comedy circuit.

In just four years he has been named Loaded Lafta Best Newcomer Nominee 2012, Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer nominee 2011, Chortle Best Breakthrough Act nominee 2011, FHM Stand Up Hero winner 2010 and the big one – The Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2010.

Outside the realms of stand-up, Josh has been busy taking part as a regular in Channel 4's The Last Leg. Plus regular appearances on Mock The Week and 8 out of 10 Cats.

Support from the evening came from Ivo Graham, a young comedian I hadn't come across before but who was very good. I look forward to seeing more of him in the future.

However, it was Widdicombe who packed out the Y Theatre and he didn't disappoint.

His act was bursting with observational tales of everyday life. Why do questionnaires about breakfast cereal now appear on cashpoints? Why do restaurants get graded by car breakdown companies? Does The Duke of Edinburgh Award really help on your CV? Why can you only buy whistle lollies in chemists?

He is still a relative newcomer to the comedy world but it doesn't show. He has a very likeable charm and nights like this prove why his gigs sell out.
