COMEDY FESTIVAL REVIEW: Rob Rouse at Firebug, Leicester. Review by Fiona Dryden
Rob Rouse may have entered the stage in an all denim ensemble – a complete no no in my book – but his heart-warming act had me chuckling away from the start.
The 38-year-old has taken his two young children, and wife Helen and made them into an observational comedy which at times really hits the mark.

Rob Rouse at Firebug
Let's face it, watching your wife give birth is bound to throw up more than a few gags and Rob expertly draws on this. If you are of a delicate disposition then this may not be for you, but actually it's prosaic, no-holds-barred humour, is what makes it – that and a few well-chosen expletives.
Rob gets better and better as he warms up. His conversational style relaxes the audience and draws them in as he wanders from the pain of birthing to marriage, the vagaries of following Lemsip on Facebook, to watching your young son expressing his bowels.

In particular his impressions of a midwife, hardened by God knows how many births over the years, gave way to much amusement.
Rob says he has become a feminist since having a daughter – the world is a scary place he says with men in it. Actually, it's rather funny if you go and see Rob Rouse.
