Birstall: The Methodist Church coffee shop runs a stall for Fair Trade every Friday morning selling Fairtrade products to help Third World farmers get a fairer return.

The profit made – £107 – has enabled parishioners to buy another bicycle and smoke-free stove from Christian Aid for them.

A big thank-you to all who helped, especially to Beryl Massey who heads the team of volunteers.

Evington: A fun day will be run by Evington Leisure Centre and City of Leicester College on Saturday. .

Activities will include basketball, boxercise, cricket and tag rugby, and there will be a climbing wall and bouncy castle. A splash disco will take place in the pool.

Refreshments will be available at the event, which runs from 10am until 4pm.

Markfield: Members of the Methodist Church are holding a celebration of marriage on July 20, 21 and 22.

There will be displays of wedding dresses, photographs, memorabilia and anecdotes — all supplied by local people.

Admission is £1 and refreshments will be available throughout.

The opening times are Saturday, July 20, from 10.30am until 4.30pm (cream teas served from 2pm to 4pm); Sunday, July 21, from 11.30am until 1pm and between 2.30 and 5.30pm; Monday, July 22, from 10.30am until 2pm.

Kirby Muxloe: On Saturday, St Andrew's Church will hold a fete in its grounds on the A47, and at 7.30pm, St Bartholomew's Church, in Main Street, will host a concert given by the Wyvern Singers called "Summer Garland".

Tickets £6 on the door. Proceeds go towards church refurbishment.
