Canal towpath will be closed for repair work

Husbands Bosworth: British Waterways is warning walkers the canal towpath between Husbands Bosworth tunnel southern portal and the A4304 Station Road Bridge at North Kilworth will be closed for the next four weeks.

The closure is necessary while contractors carry out repairs and stabilisation work to the towpath and tunnel cutting. There is still access between the Honeypot Farm canal bridge and Leicester Road along Boat-horse Lane.

Peckleton: A new DVD, Discovering Campanology in Peckleton, covers the history of the church and handbells of the village. Written by Desford-based historian Caroline Wessel, it costs £7.50. Phone 01455 822604 to order copies.

Greetham: A carol service will be held at St Mary's Church on Sunday, December 20 at 6pm, followed by mulled wine and mince pies. Singers are needed for the choir. Contact Peter Hitchcox on 01572 812585.

Long Whatton and Diseworth: The next meeting of the parish council will be held at Long Whatton Community Centre on Thursday, January 7, at 7.30pm.

Belton: There will be service of Nine Lessons and Carols at Belton Parish Church on Sunday, December 20, at 6.15pm.
