A candlelit vigil in memory of pop star Michael Jackson will take place tonight.

Fans of the dance and music legend will congregate at 10pm at the junction of Charles Street and Rutland Street in the city centre, where there is a Michael Jackson show promotional poster.

Organiser Anand Bhatt, 29, of Wigston, is the principal of dance company Desi Masti.

In August, his dance company is putting on a tribute show to the singer which will be performed at Curve in Leicester's cultural quarter.

The show was planned before Jackson's death was announced.

Anand said: "We want to mark a week since his passing with candles.''
