Organisers who cancelled a carnival because of heavy rain have rescheduled the event.

Hinckley Carnival which should have taken place last Sunday, will now be on September 6.

Chairman Neil Turvey said people were finding it impossible to dress the floats and drivers were concerned it would be too dangerous having people ride on the backs of lorries when they were slippery.

He said: "We didn't want to be remembered as the carnival committee that had someone seriously injured or killed."
