Dozens of jobs are under threat at a casino because of its change to an electronic gaming site.

The Counting House Casino, in Cank Street, Leicester, is to concentrate solely on slot machines and electronic games.

It means live games – such as poker and blackjack – will no longer be offered at the casino.

Genting Stanley, which owns the casino, has now launched a consultation over the future of the jobs of 43 staff who work at the premises.

One staff member, who did not want to be named, said employees were expecting 35 redundancies.

He said: "Staff feel angry. They have put their heart and their soul into running this casino.

"We've heard they are going to keep eight people on and make 35 redundant."

Genting Stanley said the casino had been "chosen to trial a new concept in its gaming business".

Genting Stanley also owns the Mint Casino, in East Bond Street, but the company said there were no plans for any change or redundancies at that site.
