FINGERS will be crossed for clear skies tomorrow night when Leicester Astronomical Society and the city council host a stargazing event (January 11).

It will be held at Abbey park's education centre from 6.45pm to 9pm and is free. 

People will be given expert advice on using binoculars and telescopes to look at different star constellations and planets. 

There will also be talks, presentations and activities for all ages, including creating a space collage.

Members of the astronomical society will also be on-hand to demonstrate a range of equipment. 

The event is the fifth of its kind to be held at Abbey Park, and will link into BBC Star Gazing Live 2013 with professor Brian Cox and Dara O Briain.
