Citizens' Skyride photos capture all atmosphere of the day
As thousands of cyclists took to the streets for the successful Skyride on Sunday, a group of citizen journalists were out and about to capture the best pictures from the day.
Now dozens of images of the event are available on the Leicester Mercury website.
They were taken by a team of photographers working with the Citizen Eye community news agency set up by editor John Coster.
He said: "We had six or seven photographers out on the day – some on bikes and others based at Phoenix Square in the city centre, taking pictures as people passed by.
"We took about 450 photographs throughout the day as well as videos for YouTube and we got some great family shots.
"We also took lots of pictures of people on the Cyclemagic bikes which were used by disabled people."
The news agency ran a media centre on the day, based at Phoenix Square, where the community journalists wrote about the day and uploaded their pictures and videos.

“Where are all the rest of the photo's, all the interesting and unusual bikes and the people who dressed up etc.
There was a lot more to see than these photo's show, the man with the sofa on the front of his bike, the guy with the black morning coat and black wig on a trike, the guy on the 1940's paratroopers bike, the super hero's and more.”
