City hospitals' patient satisfaction test to be extended
A patient satisfaction test tried out at Leicester's hospitals is to be extended to every hospital in England in April.
The "friends and family" test asked patients and staff whether they would recommend the service to a loved one
Prime Minister David Cameron said he wanted to extend the scheme even further, to cover GP surgeries as well as community hospitals.
He has also announced a new package of support for nurses, health care and other NHS staff to raise standards. This includes a national fund to provide opportunities for health care assistants to progress to nursing roles and new minimum training standards for care staff.

There will also be new training to ensure NHS and care staff know how to support people with dementia.
Hourly care rounds, already in place at Leicester's three hospitals, will be introduced at every hospital in the country.
The friends and family test has been piloted by the county's strategic health authority, NHS Midlands and East, since April last year.
Leicester's hospitals scored 51 out of 100 when the first results were published in May.
Results for November showed this had risen to 57 out of 100.
