Leicester City goalkeeper Chris Weale could be a target for Tottenham.

The Londoners are drawing up a short-list of goalkeepers to act as cover for regular number one Heurelho Gomes following Carlo Cudicini's motorcycle accident last week, and Weale is on it.

Cudicini fractured both wrists and injured his pelvis when his BMW superbike collided with a Ford Fiesta in Walthamstow last Thursday.

He will be out of the game for some time but is expected to make a full recovery. Spurs now need to recruit another goalkeeper and a source close to the north London club has said Weale is on their radar.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp remains unconvinced about Gomes and is keen to bring Portsmouth's David James or Manchester United's disillusioned keeper Ben Foster to White Hart Lane, but their clubs are reluctant to do business.

Therefore, Redknapp will try to recruit a low-budget alternative as a number two and Weale's form this season has drawn admiring glances.

However, Redknapp may find City equally as stubborn as Portsmouth and United, and Weale himself could take some convincing to swap a regular starting spot in the City line-up for a place on the bench at Spurs.

Weale has waited for the past three years to get a regular run of first-team games and is revelling in the responsibility handed to him by City manager Nigel Pearson.

After playing 162 times during seven years for Yeovil Town, Weale made just nine appearances for Bristol City after joining them in 2006 until he joined City last summer.

He had a frustrating time with injuries and had to be content with loan spells at Yeovil and Hereford United before Pearson snapped him up on a free transfer.

Weale's form has been impressive and he was short-listed for the Championship Player of the Month for October. He lost out to Peter Whittingham after his seven goals in four games for Cardiff City.

With his career on an upward spiral, Redknapp will have his work cut out to convince the 27-year-old to accept a supporting role at Spurs, despite the lure of the Premier League.

Weale has a contract with City until the end of June, 2011 and has publicly stated how happy he is at the club.

City have refused to comment on speculation that striker Yann Kermorgant has been offered a two-and-a-half year contract.

The Frenchman's current deal is due to expire in January but, according to reports, he has impressed Pearson enough to earn a longer deal and is now considering the offer.

“Oh our wonderful press- they now have a story- the next part of the story is when he says he is happy at Leicester- but there are a lot of good goalies sitting on the bench”

“I think these rumours will definately unsettle Wheale for the next couple of games. I have a bad feeling about the Plymouth game, very bad indeed.”

    “Isn't it rich?
Me & Fred are a pair?
Me here at last at the ground,
    Steve Howard in mid-air.
    Send in the clowns.

    Isn't it bliss?
    Don't you approve?
    DJ keeps tearing around,
    Why doesn't he move.
    Where are the clowns?
    Send in the clowns.

    Just when I'd stopped
    going to games,
    Finally knowing
    That I was to blame,
    Making my statements again
    With my usual dross,
    Sure of my lines,
    No one is there.

    Don't you love farce?
    My fault, I fear.
    I thought that you'd want what I want -
    Sorry, my dear.
    But where are the clowns?
    There ought to be clowns.
    Quick, send in the clowns.

    What a surprise.
    Who could foresee
I'd come to feel about you
    What you'd felt about me?
Why only now when i see
    That you'd drifted away?
    What a surprise.
    What a cliché.

    Isn't it rich?
    Isn't it queer?
    Losing my timing this late
    In my career?
    And where are the clowns?
    Quick, send in the clowns.
    Don't bother - Fred's here.”
