Claim that Richard III result is known - denied by University of Leicester
A National newspaper report that a body has already been identified as that of Richard III has been denied.
Richard Taylor, of the University of Leicester, also denied a claim in the Daily Telegraph the team was holding back information until a Channel 4 documentary is screened in January.

Telegraph science correspondent Nick Collins claimed sources "close to the project" had told him the remains had "already been identified as those of the king but information is being held back ahead of a major press conference next month".
Mr Taylor said: "We have not identified the skeleton found in the Greyfriars car park as King Richard III.

"We also have no contract with Channel 4 that we are withholding evidence.
"What I can say is nothing we have found so far rules out the possibility the remains could be Richard.
"The results of all the tests have not come back. Those results will have to be analysed."

“I have no scientific knowledge, but I think what jonger is trying to say BluearmyBob is that it makes a big difference to the time taken if all you have is ancient bones compared to very fresh blood as in the case you are talking about.”

“Stoned - forget what you see on TV programs like CSI it really does take months to produce a viable DNA sample from old bones so they can compare it with the sample from a living descendant - if they do not do it properly then we will never be sure if its him.”

“Always struck me as a bit odd that the DNA results were going to take so long to analyse so I wouldn't be surprised if the University does know the results and is witholding them till the time suits their purpose.”
