Claire's on the property ladder at last
A first-time buyer disillusioned with the high street mortgage lenders has managed to get a foot on the property ladder thanks to the Earl Shilton Building Society.
Claire Lenthall, 37, an account executive for an advertising agency in Leicester, bought a three-bedroom, semi-detached house in Newfoundpool for £110,000.
She had previously rented the house for the past four years.
Claire said that when she was looking for a mortgage she did not want to talk to banks which had been bailed out by the Government.
She said: "I just didn't want those establishments to have my money. Then the Earl Shilton Building Society sprang to mind. Not only is it a trustworthy local organisation but taking a mortgage with it meant supporting the local economy."
Claire a mortgage from the range available at the Earl Shilton Building Society which although not the largest choice offered her exactly what she required.
She added: "The staff were very knowledgeable and particularly confident in what they were saying, which in turn installs confidence in you. "Whilst I was also informed of other services they provide, never did I feel like I was being pushed or forced to sign up to something I didn't want to. I would certainly recommend the Earl Shilton to others."
Audrey Green, Business Development Director at the Earl Shilton Building Society, said they were delighted that Claire had had such a positive experience.
She said the Earl Shilton Building Society tried its best to be flexible about mortgages.
She said: "We understand that nobody is typical and we pride ourselves in being flexible towards people's needs.
"Regardless of a potential borrower's situation, we would be delighted to sit down with them and listen to their situation."
