Clinic set up to offer free health checks
A council is inviting residents to take advantage of free health checks.
North West Leicestershire District Council has organised a health clinic on Tuesday, January 29, at which health professionals will be offering blood pressure and cholesterol checks, posture analysis and exercise advice.
No appointments are needed to attend the sessions, which will run from 2pm to 6.30pm at The Palace Community Centre, in Ibstock.
Councillor Alison Smith, deputy leader of the council, said: "In the UK, the highest proportion of people with high blood pressure is in the East Midlands.

"We hope that, by offering this service, people will come along and get their free checks and find out how they can improve their health and well-being."
According to the NHS, about 30 per cent of people in England have high blood pressure without realising it.
If left untreated, it can increase the chance of someone having a heart attack or stroke.
