Richard, a director at Harveys Windows, in Leicester’s West End, said: “I loved it. I’m a bit of a show-off, in a good way, and I love to be centre of attention.
“I was a stripper in Benidorm for a few years between 1983 and 1987, in nightclubs. That was my entertainment for my night on the show, which was the last one.”
Before he bared all, Richard served up Korean pork with mango and papaya salsa and spinach and horseradish mash.
“I had a few hiccups in the kitchen. There was plenty of room for a bit of banter, but nothing went drastically wrong for me,” he said.
“The whole experience was brilliant. I had some great food that week – and some not-so great food.”
Fellow contestant Helen Mather, an NHS manager, applied for the show – which was filmed in May – because she loves reality television.
The 54-year-old, from Anstey, said: “I can’t dance for toffee and I’m a terrible singer, but I’m a passable cook so I thought I would give it a go.”
Helen’s main course was loin of pork with trimmings, followed by a black forest surprise “with a twist” for pudding.
“We all got on really well,” she said. “We’ve met up since and there was nobody that I thought ‘I’m going to kill them’ by the end of the week.”
Porchia Lee said being filmed was a highlight of the experience.
The 45-year-old, from Syston, said: “The whole thing with camera crews following you round everywhere was amazing.
“We all got on off-camera and have met up since and things, but you know what it’s like on the programme – it might not look like we always got on when people watch it.”
The beauty salon business development manager remained tight-lipped about whether she had any culinary mishaps.
“You are just going to have to watch,” she said.
“It will be very entertaining.”
To find out who won, see Come Dine With Me from Monday, November 12, until Friday, November 16.
