Comedy Review: The C Word, Manhattan34, Leicester
In a way, this is where it all begins; four comedians on the same bill working up their acts, and wondering if there's actually a career for them in this joke-telling lark, writes Alex Dawson.
First up and compere for the evening was the likeable Dan Schreiber, who had a few laugh out loud funny lines, including a newspaper report on a man who refused to change his disagreeable surname, arguing "I'm not going to let one man ruin the good name of Hitler".
Tom Davis, a bearded giant in a baseball hat, needs to develop a promising "wild man from a remote place" persona (more strangeness and aggression might work), but came armed with a fascinating local fact: Leicester has more Nandos than any other place in the country.
Eddie Kadi was born in the Congo, and could carve out quite an original career with nice lines like "we learnt how to speak English in capital letters".
Michelle de Swarte is an ex model, and it might be amusing to dress up to that, especially when her act starts to get amusingly risque.
