County Hall is set to agree the sale of one of its community centres.

Officials from Leicestershire County Council want to sell a building they own in The Dragwell, Kegworth.

It had been hoped they would receive £400,000 for the property but a recent re-evaluation has suggested it may not get £300,000.

The building is well used by village groups and hosts a tae kwon do club, a baby clinic, pensioners' lunches and gardening society meetings. The county council intends to replace the community centre with an extension to Kegworth Village Hall, in Nottingham Road, costing £310,000, which is expected to open in the autumn.

“Seems to be a need for mosques and money available.”
