A host of community groups are to benefit from more than £3,000 in funding.

Eyres Monsell ward councillors Virginia Cleaver and Rory Palmer agreed to provide £500 to the Children's Hospital School, based at Eyres Monsell Primary School, to purchase a shed for their allotment.

Another £500 was agreed for the local community news magazine, The Monsell Mail, to buy new computer software to help production of the magazine. Goldhill Play Association was given £300 for trips for young people to the St Margaret's Pastures pitches and football sessions.

Some £1,500 was allocated to the Eyres Monsell Primary School Spring Fete which will take place in May this year.

The last £500 went to set up a new friendship group at Rupert House, a sheltered housing complex on the Eyres Monsell estate.
