Contaminated beef products found in Leicestershire
Traces of pork have been found in beef products being tested for horse meat contamination.
Leicestershire Trading Standards examined eight batches of beef taken from supermarkets, takeaways and other outlets around the county.

Traces of pork have been found in products labelled as containing only beef
Two of the samples - beefburgers and chopped and shaped beef - were found to contain traces of pork.
None of the products were found to contain horse meat.

The tests were carried out after the county council was approached by the Food Standards Agency following the recent discovery of horse meat in a number of beef ready meals in other parts of the country.
The results of tests on two school food products are expected by the end of this week.

“Some of us have to date defended raw meat from supermarkets as different in category from processed products containing meat. The report includes supermarkets.
Can we have details of places and meat to make informed choices, still noting it seems processed beef products”
