Countdown to Leicester's gay pride parade begins
LEICESTER gay pride festival takes place tomorrow at Victoria park, starting with a parade from the Curve theatre at 12pm.As well as a variety of music and live acts, Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste Hay in the Channel 4 soap is expected to make an appearance. A spokesman for the festival said: "The aim of the event is to promote equality and diversity, advance education and eliminate discrimination in relation to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (lgbt) people, in particular but not exclusively those resident in Leicester, for the benefit of the public, by raising awareness of issues."In particular by promoting and staging an annual lgbt festival and making grants and/or donations to other charitable and voluntary organisations with the object of developing an environment in favour of lgbt equality by providing information, advice and support."For more information, including the full line-up list and times visit www.leicesterpride.com
