Courage inspires work of Pure Imagination
The mother of a girl who needs regular heart surgery is launching a charity to help other sick children.
Leanne Pratt, 33, of Barwell, has set up Pure Imagination to make dreams come true for other seriously ill, terminally ill and disabled children.
-

Her 10-year-old daughter, Alexandra Wade, was born with a faulty heart valve. She has had three operations at Glenfield Hospital and faces more surgery as she grows up.
In launching the charity, Leanne was inspired by children she saw on the same hospital ward as her daughter.

She said: "I've raised money for Heartlink, Glenfield Hospital's charity over the years.
"After seeing how brave and amazing Alex and the other children were, I decided to start the charity to help other sick children.
"Children are so much braver than adults when they're poorly.
"Alex still faces more open heart surgery, so that's always on my mind. Setting up the charity gives me something to do and helps me focus on helping them.
"I want to buy some caravans at different holiday parks where poorly children and their families can go for a break.
"I'm also looking to organise day trips and other treats and in the longer term establish a drop-in centre, probably in Leicester, with support groups for parents and play groups for children."
Three youngsters have already registered with the charity to receive help.
Leanne said: "Alex enjoys helping me with the charity and she was the East Midlands finalist in a Family Hero competition, run by Take a Break magazine, for the work she does helping me raise money for Heartlink."
Today's launch event – a black tie dinner with entertainment and a raffle – was due to take place at The Green Rooms in St Mary's Road, Hinckley.
Eleven entrants, aged 18 to 28, will take part in a beauty pageant to become the face of the charity.
The winner will receive a year's modelling contract with a Leicester agency and there is a photo shoot, pamper day and other prizes available for the contestants to win.
Leanne said: "All the girls taking part in the beauty pageant will raise money for the charity whether they win it or not."
More than 70 of the 100 £30 tickets for today's launch have been sold. To buy tickets, find out more about the charity or make a donation, call Leanne on 07826 716114, or e-mail:
