A court battle between a council and a community group over access to a village hall was due to resume today.

Leicestershire County Council and Breedon on the Hill Community Association (Bothca) are embroiled in a legal wrangle over the hall at St Hardulph's Primary School, in the village.

Mr Justice Sales was due to begin reading through the court papers at the High Court Chancery Division, London, this morning.

Bothca, which has hired a legal team on a no-win, no-fee basis, wants the council to overturn a ban on villagers using the venue.

The council argues that community use of the hall affects the running of the school and creating a child safety issue.
